Memorial Park Conservancy's First Eagle Scout!

Nicole's Way Renewal
Kyle Hodgeson an Eagle Scout Candidate from troop 1020 and his troop resurfaced Nicole's Way on February 7. They also removed Mexican Reuella and trimmed the ferns in the garden. The scouts will plant some native species in the garden February 21, 2009. Memorial Park Conservancy is delighted to have this accomplishment and is greatful to Kyle and his troop for their support and hard work.
Adult volunteers are needed March 9-13 to help students from area high schools as they examine and remove invasive plants and plant native plants (grass?) in Memorial Park as part of an outdoor education program under a Texas Education Agency grant to Endangered Species Media Project (ESMP). Working with ESMP and Memorial Park Conservancy, volunteers will be trained to assist students in identifying invasive plants and removing them, and will show students how to plant beneficial plants and native grass. Volunteers are also needed to assist with tools, materials and food. To be trained, a minimum two-day commitment is requested.Dates: Training – March 3, 6pm-8pm, Memorial Park Golf Course Conference Room Program – March 9-13, 9am-2pm, Memorial Park
